How to Install

This introduction is for Windows XP environment. For Windows 2000 Professional, the installation steps are somewhat different. Please see other sites on how to enable East Asian languages on that platform. For Windows 95/98/NT4, it is required to download Asian language support and input editor files from Microsoft's Web site.

1. Install CPIME

  1. Download CPIME from top page.
    At first, as the downloaded file is compressed (zipped), uncompressing is required. Right-click the zipped file and left-click "Extract All(A)..." (Following explanation is for Windows XP. If you use another version, please unzip the file by other methods.)

    In the Compressed (zipped) Folders Extraction Wizard, click "Next" -> "Next" -> "Finish".



    This is the end of uncompressing. Uncompressed files are displayed.

  2. Right-Click "Install_CPIME.INF" file and left-click "Install(I)".

    This is the end of installation. Next shows the explanation about how to set the installed CPIME as a Cantonese Input Method.

2. Set CPIME as one of the Input Languages in Windows

  1. Open [ Text Services and Input Languages ] dialog box.
    1-1. Right-click Language Mark ("EN", "CH", or "JP").
    In case you cannot find Language Bar on your desktop:
    Ⅰ. Go to Control Panel. It should be on the right hand side after clicking on the start button.
    Ⅱ. Double-click Regional and Language Options.
    Ⅲ. Click on the Languages tab.
    Ⅳ. Click on "Details..." button.
    1-2. Menu items list is displayed.
    1-3. Left-click "設置(E)..."
  2. Click [ Add(D)... ] button under [ Installed services ].
  3. Choose [ Chinese (Hong Kong S.A.R. )] from pull-down menu "Input Language".
  4. Choose "Cantonese Pingjam IME (CPIME)" from pull-down menu "Keyboard layouts/IME". And press OK.
  5. CPIME will be shown on your Input Method List. Click OK to close all other setting windows.

3. Change IME to Cantonese

  1. Change Input Mode to CPIME.
    1-1. Left-click Language Mark ("EN", "CH", or "JP").
    1-2. Language types are displayed.
    1-3. Left-click "Chinese (Hong Kong S.A.R. )"

That's the end of CPIME Installation. Input Bar of CPIME is displayed. Please refer to "usage" page regarding how to use CPIME.
